You now can ask the Google Assistant to read articles aloud for you. The new feature is available on Android with a column of voices from 42 languages. The new feature of Google Assistant named Read It and there are numerous reasons why you may need this. You may encounter some difficulties in reading ability, you want to learn a new language or just as simple as you’re lazy.
Google explains the Assistant’s new ability in a post on The Keyword. The company explains how, “with Google Assistant, your browser can now read web articles out loud.” Google is even employing “expressive and natural voices” which use human intonation and rhythm.
To activate the new feature, just insert already the article that needs to be read on your browser of an Android phone. Then, you can say either, “Hey Google, read it” or “Hey Google, read this page”. And Google Assistant will read the content of the page out loud for you.
Another advantage of this new feature is that you can choose from multiple voices from different languages and alter the reading speed to meet your needs. Your browser will also automatically scroll down the page as Assistant reads, highlighting words as they’re spoken to help you follow along.
You can even change the language in which the article is read aloud. Just use the translation menu to select your preferred language, and Google will translate it on the fly and read it back to you in the selected language. At launch, 42 languages are supported.
