PlayStation Boss talks about the PS5 price

As usual, companies usually don’t avoid addressing a product’s price. Since the first drops of PS5 news, fans have been worried about how the much-anticipated PS5 reveal kinda sidestepped the issue of how much the console will end up costing. The consensus is the PS5 will cost $500. PlayStation believe that PS5 price will no way reach to $600 because of ridicule news that came from the PS3’s infamous $599 announcement

How much is a PS5?

Lately, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan addressed the PS5 price issue during a new interview .Just so you know, Sony hasn’t released any official announcement for the price of PS5. However, a retailer named Play Asia has out the console available to pre-order for a hefty $700, but it’s unlikely that it will cost this much. Both the standard and the digital version of the PS5 are for pre-order here.

That said, on multiple occasions, Sony has suggested the PS5 could be a bit on the expensive side, a suggestion Ryan seemingly echoed during the aforementioned interview. Ryan doesn’t disclose the price outright, but frames the conversation in terms of “value.”

According to the PlayStation boss, Sony is less focused on price and more focused “on getting the value equation right.” What this exactly means, is anyone’s best guess, but it doesn’t sound like the words of a man sitting on a cheap console.

Jim Ryan

“Conventional wisdom and history show that our business is one of the more recession-proof businesses,” said Ryan while speaking to BBC. “But I think this will sharpen our need to ensure that we focus on getting the value equation right. And I emphasize value as opposed to price.”

Ryan said no more about the issue. That is, Sony won’t drop anything things about the console’s price. It is believed that the company is waiting for its rival, Microsoft, to make the first move. Or else, tt’s also possible it’s sitting on the reveal because it knows it may not go down well, or maybe it’s simply a marketing decision.

“You’re not going to hear anything on price today,”

said Ryan.

“But many of our consumers are purchasing solely digitally these days. We thought that we would do what we typically try and do, and just offer choice.”
