Spike Chunsoft announced that the company will take over publishing for the Danganronpa series in the west.
While Danganronpa is developed by Spike Chunsoft in Japan, the company did not establish a western subsidiary until December 2017. By that time, NIS America was already in charge of localization and publishing for the Danganronpa series in the west. When the series was ported to PC, Spike Chunsoft handled publishing from day one.
Last week, NIS America announced that select Danganronpa titles on the PlayStation Store will no longer be available for purchase under the NIS America banner starting in late August, but did not provide any further explanation.
Here are those titles and their removal dates:
- August 31
- Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls (PS Vita)
- September 4
- Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (PS Vita)
- Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (PS Vita)
- September 25
- Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony (PS4, PS Vita)
Spike Chunsoft will presumably relist these titles under its own banner following the NIS America version delistings. The company said it will share more information regarding its publishing takeover “once details are finalized.”
